The Moto Z2 Force, as old as it is, will get access to 5G, thanks to the 5G Moto Mod that provides it to the Moto Z3 and Z4. Motorola announced the news today alongside its unveiling of the Moto Z4.
How can a 2-year old phone that runs a Snapdragon 835 possibly find 5G connectivity. In case you forgot, the Snapdragon 835 is the same chip that’s in last year’s Moto Z3 and it’s able to use the 5G setup within the 5G Moto Mod to connect to Verizon’s new 5G network. It’s actually not that surprising to learn that Motorola can make this work.
A specific date for Moto Z2 5G access wasn’t given, but Motorola tells us to expect it to arrive this summer. Once that arrives, Motorola will have three phones capable of accessing Verizon 5G.
