Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S6 is a $649 Tablet in a World Without Many Android Tablets

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S6 is a $649 Tablet in a World Without Many Android Tablets

Samsung pushed out the first of two pre-Note 10 announcements this morning when it unveiled the Galaxy Tab S6. The new tablet from Samsung costs $649 and comes with a set of high-end specs, as well as an S Pen.

For specs, you are looking at a 10.5-inch WQXGA Super AMOLED display, Snapdragon 855 processor, 6GB or 8GB RAM, 128GB or 256GB storage (with microSD support), rear dual camera (13MP + 5MP), 8MP front camera, 7040mAh battery (with fast charging), Bluetooth 5.0, in-display fingerprint reader, and 4 speakers tuned by AKG (with Dolby Atmos support).

Outside of the dirty details, Samsung wants this to be an entertainment device that also gets stuff done with the help of their DeX desktop software. You have an S Pen on hand with Bluetooth controls, just like the Note series, plus it magnetically attaches to the S6 to wireless charge. There are accessories … Read the rest

Samsung to Announce Galaxy Tab S6, Watch Active 2 Prior to Note 10 Event

Samsung to Announce Galaxy Tab S6, Watch Active 2 Prior to Note 10 Event

Samsung is going to spend a lot of time talking about the Galaxy Note 10 at its scheduled Unpacked event next week, so much that it’s going to announce two other products separately before we get to August 7. In a teaser posted this morning, Samsung said that it will preview two products at separate digital events prior to showing off the Note 10.

They didn’t name the products, but the video (below) shows a new tablet and watch floating about in the shadows. Because Samsung products leak in full weeks before they are ever official, we know these two products to be the Galaxy Tab S6 and Galaxy Watch Active 2.

If we take the video layout as its shown, we should see the Galaxy Tab S6 on July 31 followed by the Galaxy Watch Active 2 on August 5. Both products will be revealed on Samsung’s … Read the rest

Verizon’s Galaxy Note 10+ 5G has Been Tested

Verizon’s Galaxy Note 10+ 5G has Been Tested

A leak from last week showed the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G as a possible Verizon exclusive and now that same device has stopped by the FCC for testing. I’m not sure we learn anything new, thanks to the countless leaks in recent weeks, but it’s always cool to see a device’s 5G tested, since 5G is still so new.

The Verizon Galaxy Note 10+ 5G showed up as model SM-N976V, with that “V” representing Verizon in the way that older Galaxy phone models used to tip off carrier variants. The device has support for Verizon CDMA and LTE, as well as two 5G mmW bands that Big Red uses for their 5G Ultra Wideband. Those two bands are n260 (39GHz) and n261 (28GHz).

There is a whole new set of tests from the FCC for 5G, which is the cool part of this all. This particular filing shows … Read the rest

Here’s the Galaxy Watch Active 2, Thanks to the FCC

Here’s the Galaxy Watch Active 2, Thanks to the FCC

The not-yet-announced Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 just stopped by the FCC and someone forgot to not reveal the device in full just yet. One particular label and location page shows the front of the device, some UI elements, and the back with additional specs.

You can see the device both above and below. The page that revealed the new Samsung watch is trying to show you how to get to the FCC certification page, which is buried with software.

Galaxy Watch Active 2

The watch is round, as expected, with Samsung’s One UI on top of its wearable Tizen OS. That minimal bezel on the outside of the watch’s face is rumored to be a touch bezel, which is cool since the previous Galaxy Watch Active ditched Samsung’s rotating bezel from other watches.

On the back of the new Galaxy Watch Active 2, which will carry model number SM-R830, we can see that … Read the rest

DEAL: All Unlocked Galaxy S10 Phones are $400-$500 Off at Best Buy Today

DEAL: All Unlocked Galaxy S10 Phones are $400-$500 Off at Best Buy Today

It’s Black Friday in July over at Best Buy, so the deals are flowing. One of the best we’ve seen so far is a $400-$500 off offer on the entire US unlocked Galaxy S10 line, which includes the Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10e.

At $400 off, you can get into a Galaxy S10 (128GB) for $499, Galaxy S10+ (128GB) for $599, or Galaxy S10e (128GB) for $349. If you need more storage than 128GB, the $500 off savings comes when you aim for a higher tier model. So the Galaxy S10 (512GB) drops to $649.99 and the Galaxy S10+ (512GB) to $749.99.

No trade-ins are required for this offer, but you do need to activate through Best Buy with a carrier. That means to get the full $400 or $500 off deal, you need to activate with Verizon, Sprint, or AT&T. Best Buy doesn’t sell T-Mobile service.

Galaxy Note 10 Launch Day is August 23: Reservations Now Open With $600 Off for Trade-Ins

Galaxy Note 10 Launch Day is August 23: Reservations Now Open With $600 Off for Trade-Ins

Samsung hasn’t announced the Galaxy Note 10 or Galaxy Note 10+ yet, but they just opened up reservations for the device. Should you reserve one, they’ll give you up to $600 off if you have something good to trade-in, plus they’ll give you $50 to spend on other goods (accessories or wearables).

We saw a similar deal prior to the Galaxy S10’s unveiling, where Samsung let you reserve a spot in line for the S10 before announcing it. That deal gave up to $550 off with trade, though, so we’re already topping that deal.

As many of you know, Samsung’s trade-in deals are no joke. When they say you’ll get up to $600 off for trade-ins, that means they’ll give you $600 off the day you pre-order/buy a Galaxy Note 10 and then ask that you send in your trade later. While we don’t yet know pricing for the Note … Read the rest

T-Mobile Won’t Sell the Galaxy Fold

T-Mobile Won’t Sell the Galaxy Fold

T-Mobile was originally going to be one of only two US carriers that would sell the Galaxy Fold. However, this week the carrier confirmed that it has no intentions to sell the device when it hits the market in September.

No exact reason was provided, but when reached for comment concerning the attempted relaunch of the device, a T-Mobile spokesperson gave the following to The Verge.

T-Mobile will not carry the Galaxy Fold because we already offer customers a wide range of the latest smartphones. Please reach out to Samsung for any further inquiries.

To us, this sounds like T-Mobile has little faith that Samsung truly fixed the Galaxy Fold, as if to say, why even risk selling it to customers? Of course, public relations folk can’t say that type of stuff, so instead, they’re saying they already sell a bunch of phones and don’t plan on … Read the rest

I Took Two Busted Phones to uBreakiFix and This is How It Works

I Took Two Busted Phones to uBreakiFix and This is How It Works

I’ve accumulated a couple of cracked phones in recent months, thanks to my resistance to cases and having a 5-year old around. Because both phones happen to be phones (Galaxy S10e and Pixel 3a) I like a lot and do not want to pay to replace, I decided I’d go the uBreakiFix route to get them freshened up and back in working condition. And since some of you may be curious how this process works, I figured I’d at least document it for those who have questions.

Before we get into this, just know that this is in no way sponsored. I really do have a couple of broken phones that I want to get fixed, have used uBreakiFix before, and thought sharing the experience was worth it.

OK, this is how uBreakiFix works!

Step 1: Decide if your phone is worth replacing or fixing!

This seems like a common … Read the rest

Galaxy Note 10+ 5G for Verizon Disclosed, Appears to be Limited Time Exclusive

Galaxy Note 10+ 5G for Verizon Disclosed, Appears to be Limited Time Exclusive

Not too long ago in April, Verizon’s own CEO stated very clearly that Galaxy Note 10 would feature 5G. He didn’t clarify that there would be a specific 5G variant coming to Big Red, but it makes complete sense. Thanks to an image tweeted by @evleaks this week, it appears that the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G is coming to Verizon, most likely as a limited time exclusive.

In the image, it states if you pre-order the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G you’ll receive a free Galaxy Note 10 should you get it on an Unlimited plan. It also says “Get it first at Verizon.”

Unlike the Galaxy S10+ 5G, it seems safer to assume that the 5G variant of the Galaxy Note 10+ is simply a Galaxy Note 10+ with 5G connectivity onboard, but those details aren’t yet known.

Galaxy Note 10 will be announced on August 7.

This Might Shock You, but the Samsung Galaxy Fold was Rushed

Official: Samsung’s Galaxy Fold is Re-Launching in September

The Galaxy Fold is returning in September, Samsung announced tonight following months of testing and tweaking after an initial launch was halted in April because of durability issues.

Samsung says that they took time to fully evaluate the Fold’s design in order to address some of those issues that forced them to pause the launch of one of the world’s first foldable phones. During that time, they’ve tweaked the following items according to a press release:

  • The top protective layer of the Infinity Flex Display has been extended beyond the bezel, making it apparent that it is an integral part of the display structure and not meant to be removed.
  • Galaxy Fold features additional reinforcements to better protect the device from external particles while maintaining its signature foldable experience:
  • The top and bottom of the hinge area have been strengthened with newly added protection caps.
    • Additional metal layers underneath
