Expect One UI 2.0 With Android Q, Version 2.1 With Galaxy S11


According to sources of SamMobile, Android Q’s release will bring about One UI 2.0, followed by One UI 2.1 for the Galaxy S11. Of course, this aligns with what we saw earlier this year, with the launch of One UI version 1.0 with Android Pie, then the Galaxy S10 launching with version 1.1. It makes sense.

Sadly, there is no word on what an updated One UI version based on Android Q will offer. We’ve noted bitched that Android Q is essentially Google playing catch up to other OEM’s custom skins, with the inclusion of things like a dedicated Dark Mode, so as of right now, your guess for what will come in One UI 2.0 is as good as ours.

Samsung Bringing One UI to Wearable Lineup This Week, Highlights Better Battery and Cleaner UI


Samsung announced that it is bringing One UI to its lineup of smartwatches starting this week, watches that include the Galaxy Watch, Gear Sport, and Gear S3. 

As the company details, “This latest deployment of One UI, Samsung is bringing a bolder, cleaner and more simplistic interface, designed to eliminate unnecessary distractions for more comfortable usability.”

For the most part, we agree with that. In our Galaxy S10 reviews, One UI has been a major factor in why we like those devices, so it’ll be interesting to see how it translates onto a smartwatch. 

What’s New

Besides the new UI, there are two major changes. For one, Samsung says battery life should be better — “The update features improved battery optimization for better performance and longer use.”
