Mobvoi’s hardly-kept-a-secret new smartwatch, the TicWatch Pro 4G/LTE, is now official. Through weeks of teases and one bad slip-up on their own website, we’ve had a pretty good idea what they planned to launch today.
The TicWatch Pro 4G/LTE is very much like the original TicWatch Pro that was released last July. In fact, it’s identical outside of the LTE connectivity, more RAM, and slightly lighter body. This LTE model has 4G LTE connectivity with Verizon, along with a full 1GB RAM. The rest of the specs are the same, though.
This watch features a 1.39″ AMOLED display (400×400) with a FSTN LCD on top for special battery saver modes. You have a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor inside, 4GB storage, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, heartrate sensor, NFC for Google Pay, 415mAh battery, IP68 water and dust resistance, and a 45mm case that supports quick-swappable 22mm bands.
Not familiar with the TicWatch Pro’s unique display setup? When you are putting the watch through normal use, you probably get about a day of battery life, like every Wear OS watch. However, with that LCD on top, you can flip the watch into an “Essential Mode” that has the potential to extend battery up to 30 days. Essential Mode shows you the time and date, plus it counts steps and continues to track your heartrate.
Because of the 4G LTE connection through Verizon, you’ll be able to use Number Sharing and have Cloud Synchronization to keep your messages and phone calls handy without your phone nearby. Mobvoi expects the Verizon 4G LTE connectivity to go live within about a month from today’s launch.
The TicWatch Pro 4G/LTE is available right now for $279, thanks to a launch discount that lasts until August 10. After that, the watch will jump to $299.
