Samsung is Still Trying to Fix the Galaxy Fold, Asks if People Want to Keep Pre-Orders

Samsung is Still Trying to Fix the Galaxy Fold, Asks if People Want to Keep Pre-Orders

Samsung delayed sale of the Galaxy Fold back on April 22 after a number of review units ran into serious durability issues. Since that date, we’ve only been left to guess when (or if) the phone will return with fixes and find its way into the hands of deep-pocketed tech fans. Today, Samsung provided an update to those who pre-ordered, basically telling them that they are still working on things.

The email, which you can see in full below, says that they are “making progress in enhancing” the Fold, but that they aren’t quite ready to give any sort of anticipated shipping date. They won’t have another update on the situation for weeks.

Because of the lack of information, Samsung is once again letting those who pre-ordered decide if they want to keep their pre-order. With no concrete date available, Samsung will hold pre-orders open until May 31. If … Read the rest

DEAL: Buy Unlocked Galaxy S9 or S9+, Get a Free 512GB SD Card and Wireless Charger

DEAL: Buy Unlocked Galaxy S9 or S9+, Get a Free 512GB SD Card and Wireless Charger

Amazon’s current deal of the day is a good one if you were considering a Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+. For the next few hours, you can grab the US unlocked Galaxy S9 or S9+ and get a free 512GB microSD card, as well as a free Samsung fast wireless charging stand.

The Galaxy S9 and S9+ (review) start at $499.99 and $599.99, respectively, which is already well below what they retailed for last year. With this bundle added on, you are basically getting $180 in freebies too. Not bad, right?

The unlocked S9 units work on all major US carriers, for those who don’t know. They also get plenty of software updates, just not necessarily as quickly as the carrier models do. They are mostly bloatware-free, though, and come without any of the carrier baggage you might find from a Verizon or AT&T model.… Read the rest

DEAL: Samsung Will Still Give You $200 Off the Galaxy S10 for Trading in Any Smartphone

DEAL: Samsung Will Still Give You $200 Off the Galaxy S10 for Trading in Any Smartphone

Samsung probably won’t give you $550-off through trade-ins on the Galaxy S10 again, but they still have good deals available.

For example, trading in any working smartphone will get you $200 off today. It could be from 2010, you just need to make sure it turns on, has been factory reset, and doesn’t have cracks. You could get up to $300 off with other trades too, but the $200 is the best value right now, since there is a good chance you have a random old smartphone sitting around in a drawer or closet. Seriously, go dig in there and find one.

In addition to the $300 or $200 off, depending on the Galaxy S10 you want, you could get freebies. The Galaxy S10e 256GB comes with a free Samsung Duo Charger. If you buy a 512GB regular S10, you’ll get both the Duo Charger and a pair of Galaxy … Read the rest

Samsung embraces vertical videos with a $16,000 vertical TV

Samsung embraces vertical videos with a $16,000 vertical TV

It’s tough to stand out in the TV market, where everyone is shipping beautiful 4K panels in pretty much whatever size you want. Samsung is hoping to turn heads with a few wild “concept lifestyle TV” designs, which it rounded up in a Korean-language press release today. There’s the previously announced “The Frame,” which looks like a framed picture and displays artwork when not in use. There’s “The Serif,” which is mounted on four legs, looking kind of like a canvas easel. And then there’s the real head-turner, “The Sero,” which is a vertical TV.

The Sero isn’t vertical all the time. The 43-inch panel is mounted on a rotating stand, allowing you to get up, walk over to the TV, and swing it from landscape to

Verizon CEO: Galaxy Note 10 Will Have 5G

Verizon CEO: Galaxy Note 10 Will Have 5G

Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg declared this week via the company’s Q1 earnings call that the upcoming Galaxy Note 10 will have 5G.

Way to spoil the surprise, Hans.

We are unsure if only one particular variant of the Galaxy Note 10 will have 5G connectivity, or all of them, and this is important to know because 5G does affect pricing. As we learned this morning with the Galaxy S10 5G, which is basically a Galaxy Note phone without the S Pen, it starts at $1,299. Note fans better prepare their wallets.

One report from this year states that we can expect launch of the Galaxy Note 10 in late August.
