Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reveal: Old name, new campaign, new brutality

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reveal: Old name, new campaign, new brutality

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif.—The rumors are all true. The next AAA military shooter from Activision and Infinity Ward, coming to PCs and consoles on October 25, will be titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Don’t let the name fool you: some of its content is decidedly unfamiliar.

Despite reusing the old series name without a number attached, this game is neither a remake nor a remaster. CoD:MW hits reset on the series’ timeline. Infinity Ward has rewound a few of its familiar characters and concepts, then placed them in an entirely new, “current-day” storyline. Call of Duty: Mobile Has a Battle Royale Mode

Call of Duty: Mobile Has a Battle Royale Mode

Details Aplenty for Call of Duty Mobile Revealed: Game Modes, Maps and More

Activision released new details for Call of Duty: Mobile this week, including a look at the titles in-game UI, as well as specifics on what game modes will be available, characters you’ll see, and playable maps.

For maps, fans of the franchise will be happy to see maps from the entire history of Call of Duty. Some of my personal favorites are included, such as Firing Range, Standoff, and Hijacked. There are plenty others, too, all listed below.

As for game modes, expect to see most of the popular modes, with exception to Search and Destroy. Activision appears to be releasing Free For All, TDM, Hardpoint, and Domination to name a few. The publisher says these are just the first modes, so it’s entirely possible more modes will come, such as Kill Confirmed and SND.

It should also be noted that bringing Call of Duty to mobile is no easy … Read the rest
